Lookalikes and how to tell them apart

3 contacts at 2.54 mm with + in the middle. Futaba plugs have a key tab, JR and Hitec plugs don’t: a Futaba plug fits a JR socket only with the tab trimmed.

Before you plug it in

Crimp terminals need the crimper die made for their size: pliers crush them and the contact works loose. Housings and terminals of different series don’t mix, even at the same pitch.

The current rating is a maximum per contact, at the wire size the maker states. With thinner wire, or with every contact carrying current, stay well below it.

Open the connector identifier →Not sure it is this one? Enter the pitch, the contacts and where you found it: the identifier compares 22 connector families.

Figures from the makers’ catalogues and datasheets. Ratings are maxima: derate for thin wire and for many loaded contacts.
